MINISTER’S CODE OF ETHICS
THE PENTECOSTAL ASSEMBLIES OF CANADA

PERSONAL STANDARD

1. The minister should be ever conscious of his/her high and sacred calling (2 Timothy 4:1-5).
2. The minister should give diligent attention to prayer and personal devotion (1 Timothy 6:11-12).
3. The minister should give adequate time to study in preparation for the preaching ministry (2 Timothy 2:15).
4. The minister should, at all times, give proper place to the responsibility of his/her ministerial duties (1 Timothy 4:12-16).
5. The minister should maintain a high moral standard in both speech and conduct (1 Timothy 6:1-10).
6. The minister should strive to ever be exemplary in both his/her manners and personal appearance (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
7. The minister should always conduct his/her financial and business transactions above reproach.
8. The minister should strive to give leadership in discipline and conduct in his/her own home and family with consistency (1 Timothy 3:8-13).
9. The minister should give adequate consideration to the care of his/her own physical fitness.

PARTNERSHIP STANDARD

1. The minister is a representative of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and should seek to hold its good reputation at all times.
2. The minister should respect the office of his/her executive brethren and seek to cooperate with the district and national program.
3. The minister should seek to enhance, and not disparage, the work of both his/her predecessor and successor.
4. The minister should endorse principally those agencies that have been approved by The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.
5. The minister should steadfastly keep guard over his/her pulpit and refrain from giving its privileges to any questionable persons.
6. The minister will become engaged only in those community activities that do not effect a compromise in his/her testimony or interfere with his/her own ministerial duties (Acts 6:1-4).
7. The minister should, at all times, practise ministerial courtesy by refraining from any form of interference in the affairs of another assembly, such as corresponding or visiting with members of said assembly without an understanding with the resident pastor.
8. The minister should not invite into his/her assembly questionable methods of evangelism that would violate the standards of the PAOC or cause undue hardship to a neighbouring assembly.

PASTORAL STANDARD

1. The minister should accept a pastorate or other calling as a sacred obligation and faithfully perform those duties.
2. The minister should recognize his/her responsibility as a spiritual shepherd to all his/her flock and to those who have no shepherd (1 Peter 5:1-4).
3. The minister should conduct his/her pastoral and ministerial duties at all times as it becomes a Christian.
4. The minister should regard service and ministry as primary and remuneration and rewards as secondary.
5. Whenever possible the minister will refrain from other remunerative occupations that would distract from the obligation to his/her church and calling.
6. The minister should never violate the confidence of those who seek help.
7. The minister should seek to ever retain a high standard for his/her church in the community, realizing that his/her conduct and statements are representative.
8. The minister should take a leading interest in the local church property, seeing that it is kept in proper repair without creating burdensome financial obligations.
9. The minister should see that true and accurate church records are kept at all times.
